The following improvements are proposed along the Kenton Road corridor:
- Provide a shared use path along the east side of Kenton Road from SR8 to the College Road intersection to accommodate pedestrians and low-stress bicyclists. The shared use path will cross Kenton Road at the College Road intersection and continue along the west side of Kenton Road to West Carnoustie Road.
- Provide sidewalks along both sides of Kenton Road throughout the remainder of the corridor to accommodate pedestrians.
- Provide five-foot (5’) striped bicycle lanes along each side of Kenton Road from SR8 to Chestnut Grove Road. The on-road bicycle lanes will accommodate experienced bicyclists.
- Provide left and right turn lanes at all the intersections within the project limits to reduce conflicts for through traffic. A second left turn lane is proposed on Walker Road and College Road approaching the Kenton Road intersection. Along with the second left turn lane, a through lane on Kenton Road will be added westbound from College Road to Greentree Drive.
- Improve signal timing at all signalized intersections to allow for better operations and safer pedestrian routes. All signalized intersections will include pedestrian signals.
- Provide a roundabout at Chestnut Grove Road to increase operational efficiency and overall safety.
- Provide adequate drainage and stormwater facilities throughout the project limits.
- Provide roadway lighting.
Interim Improvements already constructed:
- Provide an additional traffic signal at the Greentree Drive intersection to increase operational efficiency and overall safety.
