Kenton Road Project Project Limits

The purpose of the project is to increase safety and improve overall traffic operations along Kenton Road for all users within the project area. Kenton Road is an important commuter route northwest of Dover. The City of Dover and the Dover/Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) identify Kenton Road as a priority location for vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle safety improvements and traffic operation improvements.

This project will improve approximately 1.25 miles of Kenton Road between Forrest Avenue (SR8) and Chestnut Grove Road. Kenton Road is currently a two-lane roadway with 11’-12’ travel lanes and variable width shoulders with turn lanes at major roadways. Kenton Road currently has inconsistent roadway lighting within the project limits and limited pedestrian facilities. Within the project limits Kenton Road intersects with Forrest Avenue (Signalized), Walker Road (Signalized), College Road (Signalized), and Chestnut Grove Road. Kenton Road is mainly a residential corridor with several businesses located at the south end.
